we were about to rescue this puppy

My mom and sisters even picked him up last night, played with him, and let him stay overnight. They gave him a rhino stuffed toy, which he loved.

I was really moody last night, because they kept neglecting our other dog, Toby, and were already treating the new dog like he would actually be ours- Wanting to name him, telling him “no” to barking in the house.. 

I wasn’t even comfortable having another dog (since my little sister practically neglected all the things she promised to do to take care of Toby). But they were so set on it. The dog wasn’t even nice to Toby, or..most people. He would bark, bite, and snap at sudden movements. 

There were so many other dogs that needed a home. Why this one? What about our finances? We’re already paying for our cousin’s international student tuition cost for his master’s degree. Then there’s medical school (all three of us want to go). Not to mention dad’s stress and lack of job and problem with tenants. Who even does most of the chores around here + is still balancing 29132 things?  

Today, my sisters took the dog to the SPCA to get him checked out.

The vet reported 1) a collapsing trachea, 2) hormonal problems (which accounted for the hair shedding and loss), 3) a heart murmur, 4) Alzheimer’s-like disease, and 5) old age, just to begin with. That puppy wasn’t a puppy. He was 10 years old. And he’s forgotten/is confused about a lot of things, like being house trained. 

My sisters ended up leaving him at the shelter. 

My heart sank so much.
